Lot Description

(CIVIL WAR; SOUTH CAROLINA) A group of three telegrams, each on Southern Telegraph Companies letterhead, sent between December 12, 1862 and March 1, 1864. Comprising the following: 1) from John Lawrence Manning (South Carolina Governor) in Columbia, South Carolina, to Brigadier General Thomas Jordan in Charleston, South Carolina on December 12, 1862, asking to allow permission for Capt. Henry Brist (illeg.) to come to Columbia; 2) from Lt. General W.J. Hardee in Savannah, Georgia to General Beauregard in Pocotaligo, South Carolina on December 8, 1864, concerning news of the movement of Sherman's troops; 3) from Lucius J. Gartrell in Atlanta, Georgia, to James A. Seddon in Richmond, Virginia, on March 1, 1864, concerning conscription.
