(CIVIL WAR, HARPER'S WEEKLY) Harper's Weekly: A Journal of Civilization. New York: Harper & Brothers, 1861-1865. Vols. V-IX. Folio, full gilt and blind-stamped brown cloth, gilt-lettered spines. Profusely illustrated with wood engravings by Thomas Nast, Winslow Homer, Theodore R. Davis, Henry Mosler, Alfred and William Waud and others, many of which are double-page and with one four-page folding map. A fine bound set of the Civil War years of the most widely-read periodical of its time. Some wear and fading to boards; ends chipped; intermittent scattered brown spots; toning to leaves.
