An Embroidered Silk Panel
LIKELY 19TH CENTURY
of circular form, worked in gold threads, satin stitches and Peking knots to depict immortal Xiwangmu holding a young boy in her hands and her attendant standing behind holding a large feather fan, above clouds, a scholar standing on dragon's head with his arms outstretched, welcoming Xiwangmu, a flaming pearl floating between the figures, all above breaking waves, surrounded by butterflies and flower heads, reserved on an ochre ground.
