A Cinnabar Lacquer Circular Box and Cover the cover having relief carved depicting a garden scene with two seated scholars playing chess, an attendant walking out from a pavilion and ready to serve tea, surrounded by plantain trees, rockery and pine trees, below ruyi clouds and all set against a diaper ground, the sides decorated with blooming flowers and leafy branches, the interior and the base lacquered black, bearing a four-character Kangxi mark to the underside.
