Lot Description

A collection of seven humorous and satirical engravings or etchings, English and French, 18th / early 19th century

Comprising a hand-colored etching titled Le Poisson des Jeunes Filles, drawn by Claude Louis Desrais (1746-1816), engraved by Auguste Blanchard (c. 1766-1841), matted and framed; a small hand-colored etching titled Band Boxes, taken from Taberts Juvenile Library, matted and framed; a pair of small hand-colored etchings depicting the Four Seasons, framed; a hand-colored etching depicting a couple in flamboyant dress, framed; a hand-colored and stipple etching titled A Nun confessing her past Follies to Father Sly-Boots, published by Laurie & Whittle, London, October 1, 1794, framed; and a small engraving titled Portraits of the most celebrated Ladies of the British Court, Vizt., with hand-written note verso, "Febr. the 9, 1787 (?), Paid Mrs. Bolor...a years round/ Due at Condition/ Last, John Whitney/ More Rounds for the year...", matted and framed.
