Lot Description

A collection of ten George III or Regency needlework pictures, late 18th / early 19th century

All worked with chenille or silk threads on silk backgrounds and most with giltwood frames, comprising a round picture depicting a shepherdess crafting a floral wreath; two oval pictures depicting ladies harvesting crops; a pair of round pictures heightened with painted paper faces and appendages, the first depicting a lady harvesting flowers, the second depicting a mourner next to Werter's tomb; an oval picture of a be-ribboned floral bouquet; a small oval picture depicting a flower basket, housed in rectangular burlwood frame; a small pair of oval pictures depicting rural townscapes; and a small oval picture depicting a lakeside dwelling with docked boat, the backboard inscribed and dated, "...Pinckney/ 1806."
