A Rare Transfer Printed Porcelain Perfumed Bear Grease Pot Lid and Base
Mid-19th Century
identified to perfumier Xavier Bazin and depicting two bears in a mountainous, forested landscape, enclosed in a stylized geometric border.
Height 2 inches x diameter 3 1/4 inches.
Inventoried as #BJ 137 in Sonny Jackson's American Pot Lids (1987). The distinctive border sets this apart as a rare example, one of fewer than five known extant lids.
