Lot Description

A Group of Five Wrought Iron Waffle Irons, French and Flemish, Late 18th and 19th Century

Each with double-sided press depicting various imagery; the first, Belgian, depicting woman cooking at a fireplace, and Brussels townscape with buildings, inscribed, "Grout a Berdhuis/ 1862," and "Bruxelles/ H.B."; the second, depicting potted flowering tree, and inscribed, "japartien a rene toque lainne veuve dorizon ce i janviie 1835 fat par moi louis boulay"; the third, depicting birds, dog, and deer, and inscribed, "IL" and "C.G. F.C./ 1780"; the fourth, depicting lions flanking fleurs-de-lis, with stars and hearts surrounding, and inscribed, "B" and "JPB"; and the last, of small size with round press, depicting urn with tulip and rosette with concentric designs.
