Contemporary hand-colored engraved map. Framed, visible area 483 x 559 mm. Two decorative cartouches. (Some spotting.) Not examined out of frame.
Notable for two decorative cartouches for North and South America, thought to be engraved by Romain de Hooghe, and for depicting California as an island following the Sanson projection. RARE: according to online records, only two copies of this map have appeared at auction in at least 40 years. Burden 722; Tooley p.125-6.
