A heartbreaking letter sent in thanks to the widow of the NFL’s first commissioner Bert Bell. A rare look into the personal life of this former Hall of Famer. Sent on March 21st 1966, shortly after the passing of his beloved wife Minnie. Thanking Mrs. Bell for sending her prayers to the Halas Family. Halas goes on to mention what he has been doing since the funeral. Then boldly signs “George” in his own hand on the bottom, as he would do with many letters sent to friends. Also includes a commemorative envelope featuring the first day of issue of Halas' postage stamp and the original envelope used by Halas to mail the letter.
