[COMMONPLACE BOOK]. A Victorian era manuscript commonplace book of verses and watercolors. Beddington, ca 1857.
86 leaves, folio. 53 ORIGINAL DRAWINGS AND WATERCOLORS, many full-page and in color. Contemporary black morocco, blindstamped and gilt; wooden case. Provenance: Joseph Laurence (1791-1878), Beddington, 1857 (gift inscription on a label to his daughter? Ellen); Marry Emily Hillyer (gift inscription from her mother dated 1894 on a tipped-in card).
A FINELY EXECUTED EXAMPLE containing detailed works of original art including views of castles, the English countryside, portraits of various characters, and works after Rembrandt and Murillo.
