Lot Description
[LINCOLN, ABRAHAM]. "Solitary Pine" CDV portrait of Lincoln. New York: Brady, [1864].
CDV on cardstock mount with Brady's New York imprint on recto and full imprint on verso. Captured by Brady on 8 January 1864, this likeness is often referred to as the "Solitary Pine" portrait, borrowing a phrase from Francis Grierson's comment that Lincoln "rose from his seat, stretched his long, bony limbs upward as if to get them into working order and stood like some solitary pine on a lonely summit."
Catalogued in Ostendorf as [O-86].
