[ENSLAVEMENT] 1852 manuscript document detailing the hiring of a young enslaved person named Andrew
Manuscript receipt for hire of an enslaved boy "Andrew." 29 December 1852.
One page, approx. 7 1/2 x 4 1/4 in.
Willis True affixes "His mark" to the receipt indicating that he has hired "a Black boy named Andrew untill the 25 day of Dec. 1853 for the sum of Twelve Dollars to be paid monthly if demanded," and further agrees to "Cloathe him comfortably, treat him humainly pay Doctor's bills and Citty tax...." Witnessed by "Jas. C. Hogan." Docketed on verso.
