Hill. 4 1/4 x 5 1/4 in. miniature booklet comprising 3 printed pages sewn into original card wrappers with "University of Nebraska 1869-1929" on front and printed portrait of Hill laid down on inner wrapper. The entire booklet is mounted to a torn fragment of a scrapbook leaf with an envelope on verso.

Hill is listed with 37 other graduates, all males, under heading, "College of Law, Candidates for Degree of Bachelor of Laws" on final printed page.

Born in Yazoo City, Mississippi, Zanzye H. Hill (1906-1935) was the first African American woman to graduate from the University of Nebraska Law School. Her portrait was featured in the 9 June 1929 issue of The Lincoln Star, announcing that she had been admitted to the bar and that she was the only woman in her graduating class. She taught at Tuskegee Institute and was the first Black female lawyer in the state of Nebraska. She served for a time as legal counsel for the Woodmen of the Union Insurance company in Hot Springs, AR, before moving to Yazoo City, Mississippi, where she died an untimely death after undergoing surgery.
