[AMERICANA]. Antebellum letters, First Day Covers, arrest warrant, rewards poster, and more.
An assortment of Historic Americana including: a group of 7 pre-Civil War letters, several related to the Belcher family of Hinds Co., Mississippi; an 1859 receipt from Herrick, PA, documenting doctor's visit, charges for pasturing a horse and a cow, and expenses for corn; an undated letter indicating the necessity for return of game that "not in a marketable state"; a land indenture, [Jefferson County, ?], 29 February 1864; a Connecticut arrest warrant for Asa Grover who "with force and arms did make an assault on the person of William Warner...", East Haddam, 15 March 1864; an 1876 U.S. Centennial postal cover; a "The Home Bitters Co." postal cover; a pro-temperance themed postal cover; a poster offering a "$5,000 Reward" to be paid by the American Surety Company of New York for information resulting in the arrest of Courtney Glisson, a bank teller suspected of stealing "almost a half million dollars," [1926]; a set of U.S. postage stamps issued for commemoration of Civil War battles along with a separately housed group of postage stamps honoring Lincoln, MLK, and JFK; and a group of 16 First Day Covers celebrating various people, places, and events from American History.
