Lot Description

[EARLY PHOTOGRAPHY]. 20 occupational photographs, incl. railroad workers and farmers.

10 photographs, most approx. 8 x 10 in., or smaller, on cardstock mounts (condition generally good with toning, soiling, and edge and corner wear to mounts). Highlighted scenes include: 3 photographs credited to J.W. Mensinger, Pratt, Kansas, including a view of workers standing before a Rock Island Railroad locomotive, the Pratt Mill & Elevator Co., and an unidentified residence. -- Image showing a group of men with shovels and what appears to be a sluice, possibly a mining operation, with a horse-drawn cart on the hill beside them (areas of loss and several repaired separations to cardstock mount). -- View of a train wreck with several onlookers, dated 24 November 1916. -- Image of a stone crusher at Analomink, PA, with several workers positioned throughout the scene, credited to Bunnell, 1907. -- View of men farming the fields with horse-drawn equipment, identified on verso as "Harvesting in Kansas." -- Interior view of three young men, presumably servers, getting ready to serve a meal. -- Interior view of a large booth or counter, possibly a train station or bank. -- Bird's-eye view of a large crowd of people gathered near stables for an unknown event.

[With:] 10 images produced on milk glass, each approx. 7 x 9 1/4 in., providing interior and exterior views of a furniture making operation in Europe (some with surface scratches, minor loss to emulsion, wear to edges).

Together, 20 occupational images.

[Also with:] 5 glass plate negatives of unidentified landscapes and people, likely taken in Europe, 3 1/2 x 4 5/8 in., housed in A. Lumiere & Ses Fils "Plaques Autochromes" box.
