23 quarter plate daguerreotypes featuring men of varying ages, incl. an example by Columbus, Mississippi photographer H. T. SHERRILL. Seated portrait of a thickly bearded man wearing a patterned vest. (Some minor tarnishing, spotting; resealed 1996.) Housed in a half pressed paper case (surface wear, loss). -- Portrait taken at an angle of an older gentleman with a gray/white beard and sideburns by P. H. BENEDICT. (Significant tarnishing, some spotting and clouding.) Housed in a pressed paper case (missing one closure hook). Brass mat with affixed period inked paper reading "Dag by P. H. Benedict." Benedict is listed as a daguerreian and stock dealer in Syracuse, NY from 1849-1866. -- Bust portrait of a bearded gentleman by POLLOCK, Baltimore, MD. (Significant tarnishing; some remnants of original seals.) Housed in a pressed paper case (significant wear and loss to surfaces). Brass mat is stamped for Pollock, while velvet pad is marked for Whitehurst Galleries. -- And 20 others. Conditions and housings vary. -- Together, 23 quarter plate daguerreotype portraits of men.
