[LEE, Robert E. (1807-1870)]. [BRADY, Mathew (1822-1896), photographer]. Photograph of Robert E. Lee standing in front of his home several days after his surrender at Appomattox. [Richmond, VA, 1865].


6 x 9 in. albumen silver print mounted on stiff paper, approx. 10 1/4 x 7 in.

One of six photographs taken by Mathew Brady at Lee's home in Richmond, VA, shortly after the end of the Civil War. General Lee is dressed in the uniform that he wore for his meeting with General Grant at Appomattox.
