Ohio, 19th Century
comprising an example with impressed mark A. Steinmetz, a brewer and tavern owner in Cleveland, Ohio, with brushed cobalt X to neck and a faceted example with impressed mark T.P. Case, a tavern owner in Akron, Ohio.
Height of taller 10 1/2 inches.
The City Directory for Cleveland, Ohio from 1861 lists records an A. Steinmetz working as a brewer at 235 Lorain Avenue. This could be Anton Steinmetz (circa 1831-?), an Alsatian immigrant who later worked on Lorain Avenue as an undertaker and livery owner.
