case retaining two calling cards for Theodor Barth and his wife, residents of Tiergartenstraße 37, Berlin.
Length of knife 8 inches; height of case 2 1/2 x width 16 1/4 x depth 9 1/2 inches.

Theodor Barth (1849-1909) was a German liberal politician who served in the Reichstag between 1881 and 1884, 1885 and 1898, and 1901 and 1903. He married Henriette Dreyer in 1880, and the couple resided in Berlin's Tiergarten district, an affluent neighborhood that quickly became the capital's de facto diplomatic quarter.
