THE FIRST
Rei Kawakubo has deconstructed the traditions of men's suiting and built them up anew many times over. Her Fall/Winter 2000 collection, titled "Hard and Forceful," toyed with variations of shoulder-padded, 80s-style blazers with fully finished gaps in their shoulder or sleeve seams that create a cutout effect as the wearer moves. This blazer, in dark green wool tweed, features a gap between the back left shoulder and sleeve. Shoulder pads, 3/4 sleeves, back vent. Similar to blazers in looks 4 and 16.

THE SECOND
Navy blue jacket with cotton velvet accents. Button front closure, with an additional button at lapel so that it may be worn flat if undone or as a stand collar. Asymmetric hem. This patched application of velvet upon athletic materials was a major motif of the Fall/Winter 2007 collection; similar to look 33.
