the back of the chair is set with five reticulated panels carved with foliate scrolls, enclosing two rectangular openings, the curved armrests on further openwork panels, all above a seat panel and shaped aprons, the square-sectioned legs joined by stretchers; painted throughout in red, green and gilt showing blossoming floral scrolls against a dark brown ground.
