FIRST EDITION. INSCRIBED BY KING. On Writing was begun in 1997 and then, unsure how to proceed, King set it aside, revisiting the manuscript only after the roadside accident which almost resulted in the loss of his life. Shortly before completing the work King wrote on his website that "My endurance is much less than it was...but I am working."
