US Model 1855 Rifle or Rifle Musket Cut Down to Carbine Length
American Civil War
.58 caliber. 24.875" barrel. NSN. Bright finish, iron furniture, walnut stock. Single shot muzzleloading percussion ignition rifle cut down to carbine length with Maynard automatic tape priming system, missing both front and rear sights, primer magazine door and sling swivels. Lock with two line U.S./HARPER'S FERRY mark forward of the primer magazine and no legible date at rear. No legible date on breech, no legible US on buttplate. Wood without visible cartouches. Stock cut back to within 2.75" of the rear band, which remains intact with the band spring.
