SAML COLT NEW-YORK U.S. AMERICA-. Left frame marked COLTS/PATENT. Cylinder retains weak traces of the Naval Engagement scene with legible PAT SEPT 10th 1850 marking. Serial numbers to the cylinder and wedge pin do not match. Martial inspection marks include two D initials on cylinder, W to right barrel, H to forward gripstrap and T to rear. Grips show boxed JH cartouche of Joseph Hannis to right grip and JSD cartouche of civilian inspector John S. Duston. Wedge screw is replaced, as are all but one nipple on cylinder.
