Tap Action Flintlock Pistol by Bond
54-Bore (.43 caliber). 2.875" screw off barrels. NSN. Bright iron finish, smooth walnut one-piece grip. Two-shot box lock flint tap action pistol with screw-off barrels and sliding pan locking safety. Left side of frame engraved P Bond and right side engraved London. London gunmaker's proofs on bottom of frame, barrels and frame numbered "2" and "3" on their left sides as mating numbers. This gun was likely made by Philip John Joseph Bond, son of Edward Bond who apprenticed to Thomas Tringham in 1774. He was free of the Goldsmith's Company in 1781 and worked as a Gunmaker & Sword Cutler circa 1794-1816, as well as viewer (inspector) to Hudson's Bay Company.
