Lot of Two Post-Civil War US Staff and Field Officers Swords
1) US Model 1860 Staff & Field Officers Sword by Springfield. 31" straight, spear point blade with prominent median ridge. 37" in overall length. Etched blade with floral, martial and patriotic motifs. 6" gilt cast brass hilt with single knuckle bow, oval guard and counterguard with patriotic themes, shagreen covered grooved wooden grip and fifteen wraps of twisted wire. Includes a gilt brass mounted black painted steel scabbard.
2) Eagle Head Militia Variant 1860 Staff & Field Officers Sword. 28" unfullered, straight spear point blade, 33.5" in overall length. 5.5" silvered brass hilt with floral pattern knuckle bow, Eagle motif clam shell guard and Eagle head pommel cap. Grooved wood grip covered in leather with 13 wraps of twisted wire. Includes a brass mounted steel scabbard.
