Receiver shows the maker marking WAFFENFABRIK/MAUSER/OBERNDORF A/N followed by an initial production date of 1899, indicating this rifle was previously a m/96 cut down to the M1938 pattern. Item retains a straight bolt handle, and shows Swedish {Crown} proofs scattered to major parts. Brass conversion plate affixed to right butt beside a sticker conversion chart.
