Long stroke piston driven semi-automatic rifle with rotating bolt. Receiver shows the manufacturer marking U.S RIFLE/CAL. .30 M1/H. & R. ARMS CO. Barrel is dated 4-55, indicating it was made in April, 1955. Wrist is struck with the circle P mark, and both the barrel and left wrist display the Department of Defense marking.
