Lot Description
Interesting WWII-era Japanese Kyu Gunto with Officer's Sageo, Mimura Clan Mon, and Koto Blade Signed "Bishu Osafune Kiyomitsu"
25.25" nagasa. Shinogi-zukuri blade with a three hole tachi style nakago that appears to be signed "Bishu Osafune Kiyomitsu", known to have worked during the late Muromachi period (1492-1569). Blade has good activity and features a chu-kissaki, obscured yakizume boshi, ihori mune, itame hada, and midare gunome-notare hamon that shows nie. Blade is in WWII kyu-gunto army mounts including a bright steel scabbard, tsuka with brass pierced and chiseled brass fittings, old two piece gilt copper habaki, white same, and a brown/blue sageo cord that was most likely paired up at some point. Tsuka also has silver clan mon, most likely of the Mimura clan from Bishu province.
This lot is located in Cincinnati.
