Lot Description

**Reworked Remington U.S. Model 1903

.30-06. 24" barrel length. SN: 3344030. Parkerized metal finish with milled small parts and mounting adjustable rear ladder notch and pinned front blade sight with protector set in a straight wrist Walnut stock. Bolt-action repeating rifle fed by an internal box magazine charged with stripper clips. Receiver is marked U.S./REMINGTON/MODEL 1903 with the barrel marked RA/{Ordnance Bomb}/12-42, indicating the barrel was marked in December, 1942, while the serial number indicates the rifle was completed in January, 1943. Counterpane is struck RA, indicating it was made by Remington Arms, followed by the {Crossed Cannons} ordnance mark and boxed FJA initials of Lieutenant Colonel Frank J. Atwood, the commander of the Rochester Ordnance District. Stock further shows circle P mark to the wrist with an additional P pressure proof stamp on the barrel. Barrel shows the early pattern of four-groove rifling that Remington produced 1903 rifles with before switching to simpler two-groove. Top of the forend struck with number D28179, a parts number indicating this was a replacement forend. Comes with a reproduction leather Pattern 1907 sling. Rear edge of the magazine follower has been cut down to prevent the stop from engaging.

This lot is located in Cincinnati.
