Lot Description

Randall Model 1 with Sheath

7" blade length. 5" hilt. 12.75" overall with hilt and sheath. Single-edge drop-point bowie with the first 3" of the back edge sharpened and mounting a brass guard, leather handle, and aluminum pommel cap. Item uses hidden tang construction with a threaded tang and the hilt components retained by a polished nut. The guard and pommel are abutted by alternating brown and white synthetic spacers. Item comes in a leather sheath with the back of the belt loop struck RANDALL MADE/KNIVES/ORLANDO, FLA. The sheath further includes a pouch for a sharpening stone that is marked FINE INDIA MADE IN USA.

Founded by Bo Randall in 1938, Randall Made Knives soon became well known for their quality and durability. Thousands of his hand-made knives were acquired by American military personnel during World War II, with Randall devising his first numerically assigned models especially for military service. The Model 1 knife remains in production to this day, with modern production knives, such as this lot, offered in the same configuration as those offered during World War I.
