Single shot bolt action "needle rifle" with military tangent rear sight, front sight blade, saber bayonet lug and sling swivels. Chamber dated 1867 with an S-prefix indicating Sainte-Etienne production, no receiver markings except for a K inspection mark. Bolt and cocking piece with matching serial number F24270 but not matching the gun. Cleaning rod mismatched as well. Obturator and needle in place. A solid, mid-grade example of the French needle rifle that introduced the concept of smaller bore ammunition to the military rifle world. Includes an incorrect pattern reproduction sling.
