西藏或不丹 無量壽佛唐卡
With a stenciled silk veil, the central Tathagata seated on a colorful lotus throne with a cup and jewel in his hands, surrounded by a spiritual entourage including three red-capped lamas below, probably Kagyu, the central figure possibly Ngawang Namgyal (1594–1651); silk mounts.
Note:
Ngawang Namgyal, known as 'The Bearded Lama', was a Tibetan Rinpoche of the Drukpa Kagyu sect who unified Bhutan as a state in the 1630s. Contested as the reincarnated throne holder of the Drukpa lineage, in 1616, facing arrest through a series of intrigues, Ngawang Namgyal left Tibet for Bhutan, and during his time there until his death in the mid-17th century, he was able to consolidate power and establish Bhutan as an independent entity.
