A Large Japanese Mother-of-Pearl Inlaid Gold and Black Lacquer Stationary Box and Cover, Bunko, Meiji Period

Meiji Period (1868-1912)

The cover is decorated to the front in gold lacquer depicting a peacock perched on a gnarled pine extending to the body, the bird's long tail inlaid with mother-of-pearl, the reverse showing blossoming peonies.
Length16 1/4 in., 41.3 cm.
