Late Qing/Republic Period
Of flattened baluster form, rising from a stepped pedestal foot to sloping shoulders, a waisted neck and a galleried mouth, the neck flanked by a pair of kuilong-form handles suspending loose rings, each wider side of the body carved with one pair of entwined kuilong forming archaistic taotie against a leiwen ground, all below two bands of cicada blades separated by a row of C scrolls; the stone of an even pale celadon tone with minor inclusions.
Height 7 5/8 in., 19.5 cm.
Property from a Private San Francisco Collection, acquired in the 1960s, thence by descent.
