Lot Description
*Scarce Sig Sauer M17 Surplus with Brown Finished Small Parts in Box with Two Magazines
9mm Para. 4.7" barrel length. SN: TF001896. Coyote Brown PVD finish to all metal parts including the trigger and control surfaces mounting a further Coyote Brown synthetic frame with accessory rail, ambidextrous safety and slide stops. Short recoil operated striker-action autoloading pistol fed by detachable double stack magazines. Item mounts tritium night sights on a black Nitride finished plate. Left slide is struck SIG SAUER M17 above the forward cocking serrations with further marks behind the serrations reading MFR:6ZWB1 PN:13067008-1. Frame displays SIG SAUER molding into the grip texturing with the address NEWINGTON, NH, USA on the right frame forward of the serial number and QR code plate. Fire Control Unit shows a U.S. 9MM M17 marking just to the left of the serial number. Comes in a number matching Sig Sauer issued cardboard box marked SURPLUS with one 17-shot and one 21-shot magazine, cable lock in package, and a spare recoil spring. The serial number, coupled with the brown colored controls and tamper-resistant screws indicates this to be one of the first handguns manufactured for evaluation by units of the United States Military. After the handguns were returned for inspection, Sig-Sauer issued approximately 3500 to dealers for commercial sale. This handgun represents one of the first of its kind to actually pass through the hands of American military personnel.
