Lot Description
U.S. Springfield Model 1892 Krag Rifle Converted to 1896 Carbine
.30-40 Krag. 22" barrel length. SN: 7229. Blued metal finish to barrel and case hardened finish to receiver. Wood stock has a plain straight grip and forearm, with grasping grooves. Bolt action rifle with an M1902 adjustable tangent notch rear sight and pinned blade front sight. Item features an integrated magazine, saddle bar and ring, high hump barrel band, and a trapdoor buttplate that has heavy oxidation and was unable to be opened. Markings include obscured U.S./1894 SPRINGFIELD ARMORY 7229 to receiver. Stock is marked with a boxed JSA/1897 Joseph S. Adams inspector cartouche to left of wrist and a circle P proof to bottom of grip.
