**Hi-Standard Model B U.S. Army Ordnance Marked
World War II
.22 LR. 4.5" barrel length. SN: 108229. Blued metal finish overall mounting checkered black synthetic Hi-Standard logo grips mounting fixed rear notch and matted front blade sights. Simple blowback operated concealed-hammer autoloading pistol fed by detachable single stack magazines and displaying US Government property markings. Standard marks include HI-STANDARDD/MODEL "B" to left slide and MADE IN U.S.A./THE HIGH STANDARD MFG. CO/NEW HAVEN, CONN./PATENT PENDING/.22 CAL./LONG RIFLE. Right frame is struck PROPERTY OF/U.S. followed by the {Crossed Cannons} marking of the US Army Ordnance Department. Top of the barrel has been further marked PROPERTY OF U.S. Comes with one magazine.
Approximately 14,000 examples of the HI-Standard Model B were acquired by the United States during World War II to serve as training pistols. Though accurate and well built, the controls of the model B differed from those of the standard 1911 pattern, prompting the adoption of the later H-D Military model.
