Lot Description
Lot of 6 Indo-Persian Tabar Axes and War Hammers Including: Zaghnal and Kulunk
1.) Short Tabar - 4.5" blade. 15.75" overall. Single head axe with a heavily curved crescent edge, a spike tip, and steel haft. Blade has silver wire floralwork and what appears to be a goat on left side.
2.) Tabar with Figural Poll - 8.5" blade. 31.25" overall. Single head axe with a heavily curved crescent blade, spike tip, figural poll, and a steel haft. Blade appears to be heavily etched on both sides, but designs are obscured by heavy oxidation.
3.) Double Headed Tabar - 9" blades. 30.5" overall. Double headed axe with heavily curved crescent blades, spike tip, and a steel haft.
4.) Tabar/Zaghnal - 3" axe head, with a 6.25" poll blade. 28" overall. Single head axe with a recurved poll blade, spike tip, and steel haft. Item appears to be decorated with niello floral and borderwork designs overall.
5.) Kulunk War Hammer - 25.5" overall. War hammer with a recurved spike poll and wood haft that is covered with a red fabric and has steel or iron braces to both sides. Hammer head and spike are decorated with niello scrollwork.
6.) Tabar/War Hammer - 3.5" blade. 24.5" overall. Single head axe with a hammer poll, wood haft covered with red fabric, and a steel or iron grip. Blade has silver scroll borderwork visible on one side, other side shows faint remnants.
