Lot Description
.50 caliber. 42" pinned, swamped octagonal barrel. SN: NSN. Browned finish, brass furniture, curly maple stock. Unmarked flint lock, barrel signed "J B Brooks" in script. A beautifully executed copy of a circa 1790s Lancaster Rifle by John Graeff. Rifle is mounted with a lovely engraved four-piece Daisy head patchbox, brass side plate, triggergurad, buttplate, nose cap and faceted ramrod thimbles and entry pipe. Stock with 2" wide butt, raised cheek rest and relief carved decorations at the front and rear, with raised carved aprons with finials at the tail of the counterpane and lock. Tang surrounded by a raised carved shell motif and dual incised lines are carved along the toe line and along the forend. A beautiful and well executed contemporary longrifle.
