Lot Description

A group of ten silver tablespoons, John Gladding Gibbs (1751-1797) and Saunders Pitman (1734-1804), Providence, RI, circa 1780-1790

All with bright-cut decoration; comprising a set of four spoons by John Gladding Gibbs, with drops and shells at bowl backs, engraved with monogram, “JRM,” and numbered, “2,” “3,” “5," and “6," marked; a set of four spoons by John Gladding Gibbs, with drops and shells at bowl backs, engraved with monogram, “SLA,” marked; and a pair of spoons by Saunders Pitman, with drops at bowl backs, engraved with monogram, “GMR,” engraved “Bridge” and marked twice to underside of handle.
