Lot Description

A Tibeto-Chinese gilt bronze seated figure of Tsong Khapa, 18th century 藏傳佛教宗喀巴銅鎏金像 十八世紀

Finely cast and engraved, the seated figure in padmasana, with hands in dharmacakramudra, holding two delicate tendrils terminating in lotus blossoms supporting a sutra and a sword respectively (symbols of the bodhisattva Manjusri), all on a double-lotus base, the underside with a plate engraved with a stylized visvavajra; later carved wood double-lotus base.
