Lot Description

A collection of twelve Chinese Export armorial porcelain tablewares, late 18th / early 19th century

Comprising a coordinating teapot, teacup, and saucer all decorated with cartouche depicting crest with two birds; an oval platter with cartouche bearing monogram, “DCR"; a small oval platter with armorial crest in the form of a lion in castle, with be-ribboned shield-form cartouche bearing monogram, “TER”; three tea caddies: one with grisaille decorated floral motifs, the other two with decorated cartouches bearing respective monograms: “RW” and “TMK”; two tea bowls with crest in the form of a deer head, above be-ribboned shield-form cartouche bearing monogram, “W”; a gold and grisaille-decorated tea bowl with be-ribboned cartouche depicting crest in the form of an eagle with two crowns; and a saucer decorated with crest in the form of a hand holding sword topped with laurel wreath and surmounted by bannerette inscribed, “Mentum Menque Presto,” with oval reserve below bearing monogram, “DF.”
