Daboll, (Nathan)
Daboll's New-England Almanack, For the Year 1775...
New-London, (Connecticut): Printed and Sold by T. Green, (1774). 8vo. (32) pp. Illustrated with woodcut portrait of Bishop Dr. Jonathan Shipley on front wrapper, and woodcut of lunar eclipse on rear wrapper. Printed stab-sewn self-wrappers; edges untrimmed; text lightly worn. Evans 13235; Drake 298; Howes S-420

A handsome copy of this Revolutionary War-era Connecticut almanac for the year 1775. Featuring a portrait of English Bishop Jonathan Shipley, and printing his famous 1774 speech that criticized Parliament's punitive measures against Boston following the Boston Tea Party. Shipley was the only Church of England Bishop to publicly oppose the measures, and while he was never given the opportunity to present his speech before Parliament, it was published in London and throughout the American colonies. Although the speech had little direct effect on British policy, its wide circulation helped shape public opinion on the escalating American conflict.

Height: 7 in. X Width: 1/2 in.
