Washington, (D.C.): Government Printing Office, 1889. First edition. Folio. 578 pp. Presentation copy, inscribed and dated by Cleveland to Savannah newspaperman J.H. Estill on front blank: “J.H. Estill / from / Grover Cleveland / May 1, 1892”. Full green crushed niger, stamped in gilt; top edge gilt, other edges trimmed; marbled endpapers; signed by Estill at top of title-page, effaced ink stamp at bottom of same; light foxing to endpapers and text; in green cloth slip case. 

A fine presentation copy of Grover Cleveland's public papers, inscribed by him between his first and second terms to newspaperman John Holbrook Estill (1840-1907). Estill, a prominent citizen of Savannah, Georgia, was the Georgia representative of the Democratic National Committee in 1892 when Cleveland inscribed this volume. From 1867, until his death in 1907, he was the proprietor of the Savannah Morning News. He also served as Chatham County Commissioner, from 1882-1894, and unsuccessfully ran for governor of Georgia in 1902. Following the Civil War he served in a number of corporate positions that contributed to the growth of Savannah, including as president of the City and Suburban Railway, vice-president of the Georgia Telephone and Telegraph Company, director of Citizens Bank, and other roles in the Savannah Investment Company, the Metropolitan Steam Fire Engine Company, the Chatham Real Estate and Improvement Company, the Mutual Gas Light Company, the Atlantic Coast Line Railroad Company, and the Savannah Racing Association.
