(x), 99, (1) pp. With an original and charming color illustration of a bug bringing home a Christmas tree and wreath, by Harrison Cady on front blank, inscribed by him below illustration: "A Merry Christmas from Harrison Cady." Illustrated with color frontispiece by Jessie Willcox Smith (with tissue guard) and six color plates and numerous in-text black and white illustrations by Cady. Publisher's green cloth-covered boards, stamped in blind and in gilt, boards soiled, spine slightly darkened, spine ends and corners slightly worn and rubbed; all edges trimmed; illustrated endpapers; front free endpaper starting; front hinge split but sound; gutter split at pp. 20-21, 52-53, 68-69; plate opposite p. 18 creased and lightly soiled; previous owner's signature on front free endpaper; dust-jacket wanting.
A fine example of a vibrant original Harrison Cady illustration, executed early in his career before his famous Peter Rabbit comic strip was launched in the New York Herald Tribune, in August of 1920.
