Collection of London printings of the early proceedings of the Continental Congress. The first two works in the first volume cover the entirety of the First Continental Congress, from its first session beginning on September 5, 1774, and include the Declaration of Rights, the Continental Association, addresses to the people of Great Britain and to the inhabitants of the colonies, the Petition to the King, etc. The third text records the transactions of the Second Continental Congress, from its first session on May 5, 1775, through to August 1, and includes the "Declaration of the Causes and Necessity for Taking up Arms", the rules and regulations of the Continental Army, the appointment of George Washington as Commander-in-Chief, the Olive Branch Petition, etc. The second volume is the first English edition of the journals of the Second Continental Congress, covering their proceedings from September, 1775, to April, 1776.
