[Pop Culture] [Saturday Night Live] Archive of Bob Pook

Archive of Bob Pook, Longtime Graphic Designer for NBC and CBS
(New York), ca. 1970s-2000. Archive related to the hit-show Saturday Night Live, from Bob Pook, Lead Graphic Designer, from the show's first airing on October 11, 1975 to 2000. Archive includes: two of Pook's personal scripts, Saturday Night Live Episode #508, May 23, 1987, hosted by Dennis Hopper, and The Robert Klein Show, the 1981 TV special hosted by Robert Klein; three of Pook's brass printing blocks featuring variations of his designs for the show's famous logo; approximately 150 contact sheets from the production of Saturday Night Live, depicting a variety of cast members, musical guests, and hosts in rehearsal poses, such as: Eddie Murphy, George Carlin, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Chevy Chase, Jim Belushi, Don Novello, Oprah Winfrey, Dennis Hopper, Willie Nelson, Charlton Heston, Paul Simon, Billy Idol, Joe Jackson, Roseanne Cash, Tony Danza, Howard Hesseman, Gilda Radner, Ronald Regean, Jr., Dudley Moore, Rich Hall, Pia Zadora, Griffin Dunne, The Neville Brothers, George Wendt, Laurie Anderson, Jimmy Breslin, John Larroquette, and many, many, more. Also included is a T-shirt signed by all cast members from the show's 25th season, including Rachel Dratch, Jimmy Fallon, Ana Gasteyer, Darrell Hammond, Will Ferrell, Chris Kattan, Tim Meadows, Tracy Morgan, Cheri Oteri, Chris Parnell, Colin Quinn, Horatio Sands, and Molly Shannon. Condition of shirt is never worn, new condition, and other items vary, yet generally well-preserved.

Bob Pook (1948-2023), affectionately known as “Pook,” was a longtime Graphic Designer for NBC, contributing to programs such as Saturday Night Live and The David Letterman Show (designing and creating the famous commercial “bumpers”)CBS Sunday Morning Show, as well as movies including Glengarry Glen Ross,  It Could Happen to You, and morePook won Daytime Emmy Awards for Visual Arts Producer for Outstanding Program for his work on CBS Sunday Morning, and was nominated for multiple Primetime Emmy Awards, due to his creative work on Saturday Night Live and The David Letterman Show.
