Publisher's stiff yellow wrappers, printed in black, scattered soiling and moderate wear, lower spine perished, front hinge torn but sound, small loss in bottom front wrapper corner, faint ownership signature in pencil at top of front wrapper; all edges trimmed; scattered light spotting to text, largely at rear; dampstaining in top edge, pp. 241-246; small pencil scrawl in margins of final page. First American edition in wrappers of Stevenson's beloved adventure novel. The National Union Catalogue refers to this as a "variant issue in wrappers", utilizing the sheets of the first American edition, but without the terminal leaves of ads found in the cloth issue.
